Investing in what is important

If you are like me, life seems like it pulls you in 100 different directions. The kids need to be taken care of, the grass needs to be cut, the car needs an oil change, there is a work thing coming up, etc. The to do list never seems to go away, and things always seem urgent. But when it comes to our relationship with God, things rarely feel urgent. It is easy to put off reading scripture and praying, you can always shoot up a prayer when you are driving somewhere. Yet investing time into our relationship with God is incredibly important. When talking about someone who delights in the Word and meditates on it day and night, Psalm 1 says “He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” We can run ourselves ragged trying to stay on top of life, but if we give it to God and have our foundation in him, he will provide, even in trying times. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us we should be “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” When we spend time investing in our relationship with God we can learn to rely on him instead of our own power to get us through the day and we will have a foundation that cannot be shaken. So join me in challenging yourself today with this: invest in your relationship with God.

In Christ,

Benjamin Boyd
